Step by Step, Inc. is a grassroots, non-profit organization serving counties across the state of West Virginia. Step by Step's mission is:

To assist people in working together to achieve their dreams in kindred communities across West Virginia through: dialogue, education and the arts, wellness, local leadership and service. We envision sustainable, healthy, growing, and dynamic communities in which people thrive and support each other to dream, learn, work, and play, and where 100% of our students not only graduate high school, but successfully transition to career/college/technical school because they have the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to make this transition.

Step by Step supports the philosophy of national service and is the second largest AmeriCorps*VISTA program sponsor in West Virginia. We have multiple opportunities in the areas of Healthy Futures and Substance Abuse Prevention for people who would like to offer their skills and talents in rural and inner-city Appalachia by seeking to increase support and resource options for those suffering from substance abuse issues, increase access to healthy foods, and assist teens/young adults in addressing the challenges in their lives and building their resiliency as they

acquire job readiness and life skills. VISTA members will contribute to the goals of the project by performing activities such as community assessments, building/nurturing partnerships, identifying gaps in resources, barriers to resources, and assisting community partners in identifying available resources.
