  • About Us

Wish, founded in 1987, is a registered national charity whose mission is to provide long-term, gender-sensitive support and services to women with mental health needs in their journey through the criminal justice and mental health systems and into the community, and to support women to have their voices heard at a policy level.

Wish has two regional offices: in Liverpool, for the North and the Midlands and in London for London and the South. Wish currently works with 1000 women, but is building organisational capacity to reach the estimated 1600 women detained in secure psychiatric settings, and to extend services further to work with more women in prison and the community. By 2010 Wish will have an equitable national service, working with 3000 women in secure settings and the community.
