Communities In Schools of Lakewood

Since its inception in 1993, the mission of CISL has been to "surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life". We keep Lakewood's Promise by providing the five promises: caring adults, safe places to learn and grow, a healthy start, equipping young people with marketable skills, and offering opportunities to give back to the community. With the help of 25 collaborative partners, our programs offer customized and free academic and social support to children and their families, empowering them to overcome barriers to success and become self-sufficient and productive. We place Site Coordinators in partner schools to manage intervention and prevention programs that are proven to increase the number of students who stay in school and graduate…citizenship, college and career ready.
