About Us

Since 2010, Capital IDEA Houston (CIH) has served the community by acting as a bridge connecting committed, yet underemployed adults to employers in need of highly skilled workers. CIH fulfills two community needs - first, the need for low-wage and unemployed adults to receive the training and support services they need to obtain living wage careers with benefits; and second - the need of the local business community to have access to a well-trained, diverse, locally-based workforce.

In 2018, CIH launched the Career My Way program; collaboratively designed to target Opportunity Youth & Young Adults (OYYA) aged 18-24, defined by the Kinder Institute as the 111,000 Houston young adults not enrolled in post-secondary education or participating in the labor market. Career My Way emphasizes self-discovery, career exploration, whole-person development and academic preparation for empowered decision making for post-secondary or employment opportunities. Career My Way provides on-ramps to post-secondary education, short-term vocational training, and apprenticeship, paired with case management services.
