Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Twin Tiers

Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Our vision is that all youth achieve their full potential. We match area youth with positive mentors to serve as a guiding light. Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds and share a common goal of helping youth achieve their goals and avoid engaging in risky behaviors. Our professional staff screen and assess all applicants, make mentoring matches, and provide ongoing support and supervision over the lifetime of the match. Youth in Big Brothers Big Sisters programs are significantly less likely to skip school, begin using drugs and alcohol, and less likely to engage in physical violence. They also report increased self-esteem, improved academic performance, and get along better with peers and family.
