  • About Us

IODP-MI was founded to oversee the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP, an international marine research drilling program dedicated to advancing scientific understanding of the Earth by monitoring and sampling subseafloor environments. Teams of international scientists supported by IODP explore the deep biosphere, environmental change, and solid earth cycles. The IODP 10-year science plan is supported by two lead agencies: the U.S. National Science Foundation and Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology. Additional support comes from European partners and the Republic of China.
