About Us

Hekima Place is a home for orphaned and vulnerable girls in Kenya, many of whom have been orphaned due to the devastating impact of HIV/AIDS.

Hekima Place nurtures and supports the children we serve, providing them with nutritious meals, education, healthcare, and loving home.

Much more than a children’s home and a school for the community, Hekima Place is a family, a community, and a beacon of hope and healing for the children of Kenya.

The girls who come to our home are among the most vulnerable children in the entire world. In the developing world, girls are already at great risk of being left behind in terms of opportunity and education; girls who have been orphaned, abandoned or abused face even more daunting challenges. At Hekima Place, we invest in the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of all our girls, at whatever point in their lives they reach us. Our girls’ successes, despite the profound losses and hardships they have faced, are a testament to the love and care each child receives.

After our home was up and running, Kate felt called to give back more to the community and dreamed of opening a school built on love. With the support of many behind her, Hekima Hills Learning Centre opened its doors to not only the girls who reside at our home but to the surrounding communities. Both girls and boys now have access to quality, affordable education where they can expand their minds and dream of a brighter future.

We believe that every child is worthy of love, respect, and care, and we are committed to giving each child a chance not just to survive, but to thrive.
