About Us

The Child and Family Network Centers (CFNC) was started in 1984 by a group of mothers living in a public housing community when they learned that all of their children had failed kindergarten. Determined to help their children, they organized and started a preschool. From that modest beginning, we have expanded to provide free, accredited preschool and comprehensive family support services at six locations to 136 at-risk children and their families each year.

Today, CFNC continues to provide programs that support our mission, which is "to provide caring, high-quality, free education and related services to at-risk children and their families in their own neighborhoods in ordedr to prepare and empower them for success in school and life." Our core expertise lies in our ability to reach families, who are often left behind, unnoticed and un-served by other programs.

Our neighborhood locations give us a very important advantage over other organizations in offering early intervention and family support services. We are located in commmunities where the children and families we are trying to reach live. Where residents are frequently distrustful of outside organizations, CFNC has long been an accepted member of the community.
