Clean the World Foundation

Clean the World Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that collects the soaps and bottled amenities (shampoo, conditioners, lotions and gels) discarded by hotels every day, recycles and repackages them into quality sanitary products. The recycled soap and shampoo is then distributed to communities around the world who are desperate need of improved hygiene and proper sanitation. Clean the World Foundation is dedicated to preventing one million deaths each year that are caused by the top two killers of children younger than 5 -- acute respiratory infection (pneumonia) and diarrheal disease (cholera).

Each year, 3.5 million children under the age of 5 will die from illnesses that could be prevented by simple, regular hand washing with bar soap. According to a report by the World Health Organization, acute respiratory infection (pneumonia) and diarrheal disease can be reduced up to 62% by hand washing with bar soap. Yet in many communities, soap is a luxury.

Clean the World Foundation has a two-part mission:

1. Save lives - Prevent millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every year.

2. Save the planet - Reduce the waste created by discarded soap and shampoo products. Because of our efforts, more than 550 tons (1.1 million lbs.) of soap and shampoo have been diverted from local landfills. Clean the World Foundation is literally turning trash into treasure for people in need of hygiene supplies and education worldwide.
