Backcountry Hunters & Anglers
Backcountry Hunters & Anglers is the only sportsmen’s conservation group solely focused on protecting big, wild country so important to America's hunting and fishing heritage. We want to make sure our kids and grandkids can experience the solitude, challenge and freedom of the backcountry, just as we have been able to enjoy. No one knows the ground better than our members and supporters, who wade the streams and climb the ridges. We focus on protecting and restoring security habitat and clean, free-flowing rivers from inappropriate development and motorized traffic. We do this through education, boots-on-the-ground knowledge and hard work.
Backcountry Hunters and Anglers share a common bond: A passion for the forests, mountains, prairies and waters that support our chosen way of life. We come from across North America. Some of us are urban, others rural. Some of us use fly-fishing equipment; others cast bait and spinners. Some of us hunt with center-fire rifles and shotguns, others with muzzle-loaders or archery gear. But we all know that our freedom to hunt and fish depend on healthy habitat. We share a concern that the peace, quiet and freedom that make hunting and fishing special may be lost to the pressures of human population, industry and technology. We come together to protect our outdoor traditions and make sure future generations enjoy the high-quality outdoor experiences we grew up with.
Backcountry Hunters and Anglers believes in keeping public lands healthy and accessible. We believe in managing wildlife as a public trust and all native wildlife as a priceless resource. We believe in protecting the big, natural areas and natural functions that support our hunting and fishing heritage.
