About Us

The West Virginia Youth Symphony comprises 4 performance groups with a total of about 130 students in Charleston WV and surrounding counties. Our goal is to provide youth (elementary through high school) with opportunities to perform, and to work with conductors who are professional musicians. All groups perform in three concerts a year (Winter Concert, Spring Concert, Symphony Sunday), and Chamber Ensembles have a separate concert in March. We have recently added an alumni concert in June. The group has traveled and performed in Europe in the summer (2012 and 2017). We have an outreach program for beginning string players in Clendenin, WV.
