Mission: Interfaith Caregivers of Greater Mercer County (ICGMC) is dedicated to promoting the independence and dignity of homebound elderly and people with disabilities by matching them with caring volunteers who assist with the tasks of everyday life.Description: Interfaith Caregivers of Mercer County is a coalition of 28
Mercer County-based congregations of various denominations. The
congregations are the primary source of Interfaith volunteers. However,
it is not necessary for a volunteer to belong to a member congregation.
Our dedicated volunteers provide free services, such as transportation to
doctors’ offices, grocery shopping, friendly visiting, respite care, light
housekeeping, telephone reassurance, occasional meal preparation, indoor/outdoor
chores, minor home repairs and other assistance to our area's most vulnerable
citizens. In addition to services to the home-bound elderly and people
with disabilities, ICGMC volunteers also participate in conducting “Project
Healthy Bones” a 24-week peer-led education and exercise program, for those
with, or at risk for, osteoporosis.
