Brief Description of SR:

SR Socially Relevant Film Festival New York spotlights the work of filmmakers who tell compelling, socially relevant human interest stories across a broad range of social issues without resorting to gratuitous violence and violent forms of movie making. Over two years, we have presented 108 films from over 33 countries, over 50% of which are created by women and concern women’s issues. SR believes in the power of the visual medium to produce positive social change in the world, just as it strongly believes in the negative effects of recurring images of crime and violence as forms of entertainment.
