About Us

Founded in 1922, the American Society for Clinical Pathology is a professional society with approximately 100,000 members (pathologists and medical laboratory professionals). Based in Chicago, the mission of ASCP is to provide excellence in education, certification, and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists, and laboratory professionals. ASCP also has office locations in Washington, D.C., and Indianapolis, IN.

The ASCP sponsors close to 400 workshops, symposia, teleconferences and self-study programs annually. In addition, the ASCP is an award winning, full-scale medical publisher of textbooks, reference manuals, slide atlases, audiovisual materials, and computer software—as well as membership newsletters and two prestigious journals: Laboratory Medicine and American Journal of Clinical Pathology.
