  • About Us

The Women's Housing coalition is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness for women and children by providing affordable housing and supportive services to enable them to sustain social and financial independence. The WHC was founded in 1979 by a group of women who discovered that homeless women were invisible in the community. Due to the lack of resources, the WHC was created to assist this overlooked population with safe affordable housing. The WHC was instrumental to creating andhelping to enact the first Model Emergency Shelter Bill in Maryland in 1980.
