About Us

Since 1994, more than 500,000 men and women have served in AmeriCorps, providing needed assistance to millions of Americans to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, homeland security, and the environment. AmeriCorps members serve through nonprofits, public agencies, and faith-based organizations, helping to build a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility.

The Illinois Public Health Association AmeriCorps members help meet locally identified needs at health departments across the state through community service in the following focus areas: health promotion and outreach for programs serving youth, women, children and families; volunteer coordination; and assistance with community emergency preparedness.

Mission: To strengthen the field of public health through the development of skilled and committed leaders.
