  • About Us

    Our Mission

Creating happy and healthy communities by making it easy to Walk & Bike.

    What We Do

Walk and Bike Mendocino (W&B) promotes walking and biking as a primary transportation choice in short distance travel in Mendocino County. W&B is a program of the North Coast Opportunities. W&B staff support pro walking and biking governmental policies and infrastructure, provide public education, and collaborate with other organizations and volunteers working on similar or supportive projects to meet shared goals.

    ·             Bicycle and Pedestrian Advocacy and Education

    ·             Bicycle Kitchen Support

    ·             Placemaking and Tactical Urbanism

    Safe Routes to School (SRTS)

We are currently providing SRTS programs at selected schools in Anderson Valley, Covelo, Fort Bragg, Laytonville, Potter Valley, Ukiah, and Willits.

    Our programs include:

    * Pedestrian Education * Bicycle Safety Education * Helmet Safety Education

Bicycle and Pedestrian Advocacy and Education

We provide a support system for city and county planners and decision-makers to include the concerns of bicyclists and pedestrians in transportation selections. Adult bicycle and after-school classes are also available. We are now expanding to include placemaking events and hope to be able to engage in tactical urbanism projects in the near future.

    Bicycle Kitchen Support

Bicycle Kitchens teach people of all ages and backgrounds how to repair bicycles. Our support promotes personal development and provides leadership opportunities.

All services are free, but donations are greatly appreciated and go towards supporting bicycle kitchens. Volunteers are always needed, so if you know of someone who is interested in learning about bicycles, let us know!
