About Us

We're a small international development charity working to improve the lives of deprived children and their families in Ghana and Uganda through our education, health and community empowerment programmes run by the communities themselves.

We believe that every child should be given opportunities to develop their skills and talents so that they have the best chances for the future. We target children aged 3-6 at the vital time in their lives when the foundations for learning are built and developed. Our creative and innovative low-cost solution uses local resources to develop skills of parents and empower communities to change their lives for the better.

We set up Play Centres (for children aged 3-6) and Reading Schemes (for all the community) in rural deprived villages. We train volunteers from these communities (encouraging mainly vulnerable mothers) to run and sustain the Play Centres and Reading Schemes themselves. Volunteers learn team-working and leadership skills and the children learn vital skills (such as numeracy and problem solving) through play.

We have lots of exciting opportunities to volunteer at our projects in Ghana and Uganda. Find out more at www.livelyminds.org/volunteer
