About Us

The International Storytelling Center is a Tennessee not-for-profit corporation with offices in Jonesborough, Tennessee. The mission of the organization is to inspire and empower people everywhere to capture and tell their stories, listen to the stories of others and use storytelling to produce positive change. The International Storytelling Center believes promoting and sharing creative applications of storytelling can build a better world. The Center annually produces the National Storytelling Festival, the internationally acclaimed storytelling event that attracts 9,000 attendees from around the world. Additionally, the organization sponsors live storytelling events and community and educational outreach programs throughout the year.

The offices are located in the Mary B. Martin Storytelling Center located in the Historic Downtown District of Jonesborough. The Center welcomes over 60,000 guests each year. It also plays a vital role in the Jonesborough community and regional tourism.
