Arts on the Block (AOB), the only organization in the Washington, DC area offering youth the opportunity to learn about the intersection of art, design and business by engaging them in real-world art projects.  Since its founding in 2003, Arts on the Block’s mission has been to empower creative youth to imagine and shape fulfilling futures and contribute to the quality of life in their communities.  AOB achieves its mission by providing real-world experiences in the arts, educational guidance and entrepreneurial training geared to their unique capabilities.  Our target audience is young people ages 11 to 21, the majority of whom live and attend school in Montgomery County, Maryland.For young people ages 11-21 in Montgomery County, MD (suburban Washington, DC) who are passionate about art, ARTS ON THE BLOCK is a place to learn about the world of art, the world of work, the community, and themselves. It is a place to make make art for clients; for the marketplace; for the benefit of the community, and simply for the joy of making art.

YOUTH WHO PARTICIPATE IN ARTS ON THE BLOCK GROW TO BE:

• Creative individuals who know and believe in themselves and their gifts.
• Conscious and skilled creators of future opportunities in education, careers and lives.

• Active contributors to their communities and society.
