  • Mission

    Collecting, preserving and promoting awareness of the significant historical and agricultural heritage of Orange County; specifically: a) Bicentennial Museum containing projects and exhibits honoring the lives and ideals and promoting the pleasurable customs of the founding fathers and presenting affirmative studies of the Constitution of the United States and the Free Enterprise System and to finance other projects of the Bicentennial Commission; b) To memorialize, in particular, James Madison of Orange County, fourth President of the United States, his life and times, and in his interest in and contributions to the fields of political theory and government, economics and agriculture.

    About Us

    Founded in 1974 by Mr. & Mrs. Jacquelin Taylor and the Orange County Bicentennial Commission; the museum opened its doors on July 4, 1976; the first museum in the United States to honor James Madison, Jr. The museum is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors and it's daily functions are handled through a director.
