THE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA HISTORICAL SOCIETY INC

  • Mission

The mission of the society is to discover, collect and preserve original and source documents, maps and photographs pertaining to the history of SW Florida. To bring together those interested in the history of this area; to promote and stimulate public interest and appreciation of the history of this area; and to further the preservation and knowledge of Southwest Florida’s past.

    About Us

Since 1963, the Southwest Florida Historical Society has worked to collect and preserve historical photographs and materials related to Southwest Florida. We maintain a small archive in a building located on the grounds of the Alliance for the Arts. We assist researchers and those interested in the history of the area and hold annual events and a monthly guest speaker series. While not a museum, we do occasionally exhibit materials.

We're a small, all-volunteer organization, and we're currently only open Wednesdays and Saturdays, from 9 to noon.
