  • About Us

    Sight Savers America (SSA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit founded in 1997 by Jeff Haddox, a vision scientist who realized the unmet needs in children’s eye care in Alabama. 

    SSA now serves children in 16 states and operates three programs that fulfill our mission of identifying and securing treatment for unmet vision and health needs:  EYE CARE PROGRAMLOW VISION PROGRAMand SCREENING PROGRAM.

    Today, these programs provide comprehensive follow-up eye care, low vision services, vision screenings, and head-to-toe health screenings for 95,000 referrals in 16 states annually.

    SSA operates with a board of trustees and a staff of 38, and also relies on our nationwide network of over 1,300 eye care professionals who discount their services for our programs.
