Tacoma Community Boat Builders

  • About Us

TCBB serves Pierce County by creating transformational opportunities for at-risk youth through woodworking, boat building, and positive mentorship. We pair court involved youth one-to-one with adult mentors, many of them expert craftsmen, to learn skills in woodworking, boat building, and building relationships across generations and cultures. We focus on building self-confidence, workplace skills, and interpersonal skills to build stronger lives and better futures for youth in high risk life situations. The kicker is that program participants get to build things - anything! - and use our hand-built wooden craft on the Thea Foss Waterway as part of the process.
