Jacksonville Teacher Residency (JTR) is a teacher residency program that prepares graduates and professionals with STEM degrees to teach science or mathematics in high-needs middle and high schools. It combines Master's-level coursework with a full-year classroom apprenticeship.
Our mission is to increase the number of science and math teachers in Jacksonville's high-needs, urban schools so that students graduate from high school with a solid foundation in the STEM subject areas.
This 20-month program provides a $20,000 stipend and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Florida. At the end of the program, residents become eligible for full-time teaching positions in a high-needs, urban school in Jacksonville, FL.
