USA Triathlon, founded in 1984, grew out of a competitive spirit and the need for a challenge by recreational runners and swimmers in the California area. Today,the multi-sport event known as triathlon has grown to encompass a greater purpose. USA Triathlon's mission is to provide leadership and structure for the growth and development of excellence in the sport. USA Triathlon's vision is to be the "gold standard" for triathlon worldwide.
