    About Us

Kenya is a country of beauty and opportunity, but behind the growth and progress is a painful reality. In Nairobi’s informal settlements, children face some of the toughest struggles such as poverty, abandonment, lack of education, poor health, and limited access to basic needs. These challenges keep many families trapped in cycles of hardship.

Smile Community Centre was founded in 2009 by Margret Nekesa Khaemba, a mother of three who saw the urgent need for a safe and loving place for vulnerable children and families. What began as a small effort to feed, counsel, and support children has now grown into a registered Community-Based Organization (CBO) dedicated to rescuing, housing, and caring for abandoned, orphaned, and vulnerable children.

Today, Smile Children’s Home provides food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and education to between 80 and 100 children daily. Beyond daily care, we run special programs such as a feeding program that targets over 300 children supported by Friends of Smile and a transition process that prepares older children in our centre for adulthood. Many of our former residents are now thriving young adults, university graduates, and professionals making a difference in society.

    Our Mission

To promote self-reliance, education, and wellbeing of children through educational support and community programs.

    Our Vision

To see a community free of illiteracy, poverty, and poor health.

    Why Your Support Matters

Every gift of kindness, whether a donation or your time, helps us rescue more children, give them safety and dignity, and provide the tools they need to build a brighter future. Together, we can break cycles of poverty and create stories of hope and success.

Join us in giving every child the chance to smile again.
