    our mission: creating hope, healing lives, changing community We offer free, confidential help for adults and children affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, or child abuse. Our services include a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, advocacy, counseling, case management, support groups, job training, and much more.

    About Us

    We provide not only immediate short-term help but long-term solutions to adults and children in crisis.

    Safelight gives individuals who have experienced interpersonal violence, sexual abuse, and child abuse a real second chance, an opportunity to redesign and better their lives.

    Today, due to Safelight's broad community support and partners, we are addressing needs in mental health, substance abuse, employment, and housing.

    Our History:

    1984: Mainstay merged 2 local groups.

    1990: Resale Store opened.

    2008: Shelter on 5th Ave opened, serving over 4,200 unique individuals since opening

    2013: Dandelion opened to provide Job Training to survivors of interpersonal violence

    2014: Family Advocacy Center opened

    2015: Child Advocacy Center opened

    2016: Merger of the Healing Place and Mainstay

    2016: Counseling Center opened; serving 542 unique individuals

    2021: Safelight purchases a new facility on N. Washinton Street to house the Child Advocacy Center, Family Advocacy Center, and Counseling Center all under one roof
