Mon National Education Committee
Mon National Education Committee (MNEC) is dedicated to creating a society that provides its people with basic education to enable all ethnic groups to peacefully coexist.
To this end, MNEC supports over 30,000 students to attend formal basic education in 245 schools in South Eastern Burma. MNEC provides specialized trainings and capacity building opportunities to strengthen their nearly 800 teachers. MNEC works closely with community members to support education through income generation projects and local teacher associations.
MNEC's educational initiatives are delivered through support from World Education under the Project for Local Empowerment (PLE, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, USAID), Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), Terre De Homme (TDH), and Catholic Office for Emergency Relief and Refugees (COERR).
