About Us

The Wisconsin Apprentice Organizers Project (AOP) works to strengthen a culture of community organizing for social, economic, racial, and environmental justice in Wisconsin. Toward this vision, AOP works to increase the number and diversity of highly skilled organizers in the state by collaborating with experienced community organizers, social justice organizations, donors, and other progressive leaders to train new and diverse apprentice organizers.

AOP offers a six-month apprenticeship program that provides apprentices (most of whom are from the marginalized communities in which they work) with paid organizing experience under the supervision of an experienced organizer in a community organization. The apprenticeships include intensive training and support to develop apprentices’ skills and knowledge to become effective organizers for progressive social justice.
