KIPP Metro Atlanta
KIPP Metro Atlanta is a network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory charter schools in Atlanta. Our mission is to prepare students for top quality high schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond. KIPP Metro Atlanta currently operates two schools (KIPP South Fulton Academy and KIPP WAYS Academy) in the Atlanta Public and Fulton County School districts serving over 600 students from fifth to eighth grade. KIPP STRIVE Academy is the third and newest school and will open in the summer of 2009 serving 85 students in 5th grade. In 2013, at full growth KIPP STRIVE will serve 300 students from fifth to eighth grade. In 10 years, KIPP Metro Atlanta plans to grow to serve over 3,000 students on the path to college.
KIPP Metro Atlanta is associated with the national KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) network, which recruits and trains school leaders to open KIPP schools across the country. The KIPP network is rapidly growing, with 66 schools currently operating throughout the US and plans to grow to over 100 schools by 2010.
