Sharing Notes

About Us

Sharing Notes improves quality of life for Chicago hospital patients through intimate, engaging, uplifting live music performances either in-person or virtually using FaceTime or Zoom. Moving beyond the boundaries of traditional recitals, performances focus on our audience - hospitalized patients - with careful musical selection and personalized interactions. Music provides distraction to break the isolation of illness and long hospital stays. Sharing Notes musicians talk with patients, take requests, lead games with children and react sensitively to patients.

In June 2020 in response to the pandemic, Sharing Notes created our live virtual bedside concert program. These concerts as close to in-person concerts as possible and demonstrate our commitment to mission, adaptability to rapid change, and innovation during times of crisis. Patients can schedule a musician to FaceTime or Zoom, request a song, enjoy a conversation or simply listen to music. When volunteer restrictions lift, live concerts will begin and virtual bedside concerts will continue as part of our program repertoire.
