Aurora Opera Theatre

The mission of Aurora Opera Theatre is to produce operas suitable for chamber opera settings and to educate young people and the general population about opera. As one of only two professional opera companies headquartered in Northern Virginia (the other is Wolf Trap Opera), AOT stands apart for its affordability, accessibility, and unique programming. AOT annually reaches an average of 4,200 adults, youth and children. The company produces a very popular family opera each year at the Thomas Jefferson Community Theater, as well as 2 – 3 other productions, which usually include one area (or world) premiere. AOT actively seeks opportunities for collaboration with other performing arts groups in the area, and is proud of its alliance with the Arlington Cultural Center, which will allow future performances to take place in the conveniently located theater facilities at Rosslyn.
