M. I. Lewis Social Service Center

The mission of the M.I. Lewis Social Service Center is to render aid to individuals with emergency needs, to make referrals to other agencies for additional support, and to encourage its clients toward self-sufficiency.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. M.I. Lewis Social Service Center emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. We provide services to low-income families in crisis who reside in Galveston County through:

• Emergency financial assistance for utility bills, rent, or medicine
• Food assistance through our client-choice food pantry
• Grocery deliveries for senior citizens once a month
• School supply assistance at the beginning of the school year
• Thanksgiving meal distribution
• Monthly mobile food distribution
• Our Self-Sufficiency Learning Center classes and events
