Handi-Wheels Transportation, Inc.

About Us

It is Handi-Wheels' mission to provide a safe, reliable means of accessible and affordable transportation service to individuals with a disability, persons who are elderly, and individuals who live within the limits of a poverty income. Handi-Wheels embraces and is fully committed to the observance of human and disability rights. As such, Handi-Wheels is dedicated to the rights of its patrons to a transportation service of the highest possible quality.

Handi-Wheels began its service in January of 1975 after the residents of New Horizons Manor were successful in raising the funds needed for a wheelchair accessible van. The source of funding for the van was created through their collective effort to gather and redeem Betty Crocker coupons. Today, Handi-Wheels' fleet consists of four vehicles and provides service to residents within the city limits of Fargo, West Fargo (ND) and Moorhead (MN). In 2010, Handi-Wheels provided 15,000 rides to people in need.

Handi-Wheels provides door-to-door service to eligible individuals who cannot ride other public transportation. In addition, Handi-Wheels provides transportation to access medical care and ensure inclusion in our community. Handi-Wheels is open to the public.
