Action in Montgomery

Since 2000, Action in Montgomery has built citizen power to effect change by developing leaders in congregations, public schools, and neighborhood associations to act together on issues that matter to their communities. We have won over $800 Million for affordable housing, were key to passing the Dream Act in Maryland, won $30M to renovate community centers in Historic African-American neighborhoods, and quality afterschool programming for over 1200 students in 10 of the highest poverty schools in the county, among many other victories. We start on the ground, listening to people face-to-face to identify the issues that are most pressing to people and their families, and to identify the local leaders that want to act together to make their lives and communities a better place to live.
