Birth to Third Grade Partnership

Cambridge, MA

  • About Us

The Birth to Third Grade Partnership was created as a result of an extensive city-wide needs assessment completed in 2015 by a task force appointed by the city manager. The vision statement from the task force’s final report is “All children in Cambridge receive high quality early education and care from birth through third grade. As a result, all children enter school ready to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and continue to do so through third grade and beyond.” It has 5 goals to guide improvement efforts:

    1. Increase access and affordability of Early Education and Care Services
    2. Continuously improve program quality
    3. Build partnerships to promote strong family engagement and support
    4. Coordinate with health care providers to ensure access to quality services
    5. Develop effective governance and leadership

This exciting work is supported by an Early Childhood Director and a Program Quality Specialist who work closely with a Steering Committee, as well as three subcommittees comprised of community-based providers and practitioners.
