Body Empowerment Project is a nonprofit organization that seeks to prevent eating disorders in adolescents, specifically in communities that lack access to treatment and preventative care. We achieve this by hosting educational workshops for college, middle, and high school students in Philadelphia. The workshops utilize an innovative near-peer mentorship model to deliver a validated body positivity curriculum. Our two primary programs are Be Body Positive Philly, which serves marginalized youth in Philadelphia public schools, and Be Body Positive Penn which serves undergraduate college students at the University of Pennsylvania. Our vision is to fundamentally transform the way youth across the nation define their self-worth and shape discussions about health and wellness.
