About Us

The goal of the Great Lakes, Great Communities Campaign is to protect our communities from the devastations of water contamination and pollution while also helping to protect, restore, and preserve the water resources of the Great Lakes. Our mission of the Great Lakes, Great Communities Campaign is to protect the environment, stop the assault on our communities and restore our connection to the natural world.

The strategic priorities of the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter Great Lakes Campaign is to protect and restore the Great Lakes ecosystem by eliminating transport of bulk petroleum products and by-products, reducing impact of agricultural runoff in the Great Lakes watershed, cleaning up nutrient pollution, promoting use of green infrastructure in Detroit to reduce nutrient runoff and dangerous storm events, improving coastal health and stopping projects that pose a threat to our Great Lakes and public health.
