About Us

Educate. Inspire. Transform.

The Alliance Center for Education, formerly the Bethlehem Center of Charlotte, works with children and families to break the cycle of poverty by providing a continuum of high quality educational and support services. Founded by United Methodist Women in 1940, AC4Ed has improved economic mobility for thousands of children through early childhood development and K-12 year-round programming.

Our mission is to provide high-quality education and support for children in need through partnership with their families.

Our vision is to positively affect the future of children at risk by improving economic mobility through education.

Providing outstanding educational services to Mecklenburg County families for 80 years! Recognizing the enormity of the challenges facing our society, Alliance Center for Education is dedicated to making a lasting impact. While our efforts are driven by our organization’s singular focus, we spread a wide net by investing in a variety of progressive strategies. We recognize each child for his or her own academic, social, and physical gifts and needs. Our staff is trained to identify which teaching methods will best support each individual child

Family Engagement. At AC4Ed, we understand that a child’s family is an integral part of his or her learning experiences. That is why we include a Family Engagement Team of specialists to ensure your family unit has the information you need to support the learning process of your child.  This team, combined with the strong educational services in our Early Education and OST programs, differentiates AC4Ed from other area service providers. We live our mission by providing high-quality education and support for children in need through partnerships with their families. It is our vision that we can positively affect the future of children at risk by improving economic mobility through education.
