About Us

Standpoint, formerly known as the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project (BWLAP), is a statewide, non-profit organization that works to improve the legal system’s response to domestic and sexual violence victims, particularly under-represented victims. Standpoint is the only organization of its kind in the state. We work with agencies that serve domestic and sexual violence victims statewide, as well as the systems they encounter. We also initiate collaboration between advocates and representatives from legal, health, housing, and child protection systems so that they work together in situations involving domestic and sexual violence victims. Standpoint staff also serve on a variety of public policy boards and task forces to represent the interests of domestic and sexual violence victims, particularly those who face the greatest barriers to receiving help.
