Battered Women's Legal Advocacy Project, Inc.
BWLAP is a statewide, non-profit organization that works to improve the legal system’s response to battered women and their children, particularly under-represented battered women. BWLAP is the only organization of its kind in the state. We work with agencies that serve battered women and their children statewide, as well as the systems they encounter. We also initiate collaboration between advocates and representatives from legal, health, housing, and child protection systems so that they work together in situations involving battered women. BWLAP staff also serve on a variety of public policy boards and task forces to represent the interests of battered women, particularly those who face the greatest barriers to receiving help.
