Northland Therapeutic Riding Center

About Us

The goal of Northland Therapeutic Riding Center is to improve the quality of life of persons with special needs, and create a sense of hope in their future. Therapeutic Riding uses equine-oriented activities to positively impact the cognitive, physical, emotional, and social well-being of people with special needs from ages 2 to 80 years.

Volunteers are a vital part of Northland Therapeutic Riding Center's therapeutic riding program, donating more than 4,000 hours each year. They say there is something magical about the barn and the camaraderie of the volunteers, staff, and riders. "It feels special", volunteers say, "to be part of a program that makes such a difference in so many lives."

NTRC needs you. Experience with horses is not necessary for all positions since many volunteer positions extend beyond the barn. You just have to want to help. Volunteers can assist as horse leaders or sidewalkers in the therapeutic riding classes, tend to the needs of our special horses, or share their accounting, writing, photography, computer, or organizational skills with our center. Whatever your talent or interest, there is a perfect place for you at NTRC. Volunteer schedules are flexible.
