  • Mission

To provide free English speaking volunteers in poorer government schools. To provide the volunteers with full support to enable them to teach effectively; to provide them with the curriculum and prepared lessons; to provide transport to the schools and a liason officer to interact between the volunteers and the schools.

    About Us

Volunteer Teacher Thailand (VTT) came from the work of the inspirational Tsunami Volunteer Center. We teach English in poorer schools in villages on the Andaman Coast. We charge a registration fee of $111. We do not charge the schools for any expenses. We provide transport and all materials for the classes.

VTT is run by a UK teacher who uses the Thai schools’ curricula. Lessons have been made to match the curriculum. This means the volunteers brings added value to the work of the schools in a systematic way. You don't need teaching experience, a teacher has made your lessons.

Volunteers can choose their own accommodation from our list - from $5 dorm to $20 a/c with bathroom. Airport pickup $30.

Volunteer Teachers have been awarded the TOURISM of THAILAND'S GREEN EXCELLENCE AWARD for the best volunteer project.

The award was presented by Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana.

VTT has also won the iStudy Global Award for the best volunteer programme for 2017 and 2018.

We do not have a volunteer house, nor do we hold mandatory team building dinners. We regard our volunteers as being capable and independent people.

We do provide an orientation giving insights into classroom management and Thai culture.

We are pledged to protect children and are signatories to The Code, requiring us to ask each volunteer for a police record check.
