Valley Health Foundation

  • Mission

The mission of Valley Health Foundation is to be a leader for community health and healthcare in Santa Clara County by fundraising to support, innovate, and advocate better health for all.

    About Us

When we were founded as a nonprofit entity in 1988 under the name Valley Medical Center Foundation, our mission was to ensure the strength of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, our single public county hospital at the time. Knowing that the most vulnerable members of our community relied on this public institution, our work was clear: keep the doors open to ensure access to the highest quality care for all who needed it.

In the years since, our county healthcare system grew to include O’Connor Hospital, St. Louise Regional Hospital, and 14 primary and specialty care health centers. With the expansion of the public system, even more in our county rely on these critical services. With support from a dedicated community of donors and champions, we expanded support into public health, behavioral health, custody health, and more. And when COVID-19 hit, we pivoted our operations and partnered with the County of Santa Clara to become the community distribution point for personal protective equipment and emergency supplies to our entire county.

To better reflect the growth of our healthcare system and our work in the community, in 2023 we renamed our organization to Valley Health Foundation and updated our mission to be a leader for community health and healthcare by fundraising to support, innovate, and advocate better health for all.
