Give Back Wisconsin is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for positive programs that support and enhance the lives of the diverse groups of people in our local communities. We were established in 2017 and have 5 community service programs we have undertaken.
GBWI is the local chapter in SE Wisconsin for Pets for Vets, a national organization dedicated to helping heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by using the power of the human-animal bond to provide a second chance for shelter animals by rescuing, training and pairing them with America's servicemen and women who could benefit from having a companion animal.
GBWI also has developed Dreams Come True to partner Children's Hospital of Wisconsin with local professional sports teams to provide sports loving children who have undergone medical and/or physical hardships, with a fun filled day at a local sporting event for them and their family at no expense.
GBWI's Bridging the Generation Gap program understands the importance of all generations and their contributions to our communities. The project vision is to unite high school youth with senior citizens through various volunteering and mentoring interactions. Just a few hours each week together can leave a lasting impact on the lives of both. Whether it’s getting seniors up to date with the latest tech gadgets or taking a short walk to enjoy the outdoors, these interactions play a pivotal role in the relationships between our senior and youth communities.
GBWI also has a school supply drive program called Repurposing of School Supplies which aims to improve our local schools through reclaiming used school supplies and giving them back to other schools with strained budgets and lower income communities. Many schools in our area simply do not have the budgets necessary to supply teachers and students with essential supplies needed for a proper learning environment. We will work with suburban schools to help collect gently used supplies or new supplies. Give Back Wisconsin will also take monetary donations and purchase new supplies to distribute to schools in need.
Finally, GBWI"s Teens2Tech program. With the future of our youth in mind, this exciting and essential undertaking opens the door for teens to pursue opportunities of potential employment in the various trades and technical vocations. With the cost of higher education at an all time high and many graduates burdened with debt, many of our area’s youth may discover the trades and technical fields are a better option for them. Many of these fields currently and will continue to see a shortage of qualified candidates to fill these family supporting jobs. GBWI would like to introduce our youth to many of the opportunities that are available to them.
GBWI relies on community support to help fund our programs and reach our goals. To help support our cause, please visit our website at www.givebackwi.org for more details.
