YCA was founded in l961 with the mission of discovering and launching the professional lives of extraordinary young classical musicians. The organization's "legendary" achievements over the past half-century include starting the careers of Emanuel Ax, Pinchas Zukerman, Murray Perahia, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Dawn Upshaw, the St. Lawrence String Quartet, Richard Goode, Anne-Marie McDermott, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Jeremy Denk and over 200 other soloists, 13 ensembles and 8 composers, who today have a vital presence in the international music world. Young Concert Artists runs international auditions each year; presents concert series in New York and Washington DC; has an educational outreach program; and provides management to a roster of exceptional performers and composers.
