About Us

Kids with cardiovascular disease (heart disease and stroke) aren’t always able to just be kids. Their lives include medication, hospital stays and surgery. Many spend more time in the physician’s office than doing kids stuff. Their families make many sacrifices for the health of the children, and often have little or no support network when facing daily challenges.

In Florida, the American Heart Association provides an exciting and totally FREE opportunity that enables these children to enjoy silliness, swimming, fishing, laughing, sporting events, arts and crafts, and friendships that we all need. The association sponsors the American Heart Heroes program – a year-round opportunity for fun, friendship, family support and even the chance to go to camp!

The American Heart Heroes program includes camp activities such as horseback riding, fishing and boating as well as extensive year-round involvement and fun with the American Heart Association. New members receive a t-shirt, certificate and our latest information with their membership kits. Activities include fun regional events and get-togethers, family conferences, involvement in local American Heart Association projects and other exciting opportunities. The association works with friends like Camp Boggy Creek, pediatric cardiology offices and support groups around the state to make this a reality for families.
