We know that, Government is giving scholarship to Ahmedabad's Poor Students, who are studying at Municipal Corporation operated schools. There are 1.51 lakh students in 464 Primary Schools in Ahmedabad. But Government is supporting these students only till 7th grade. Poor children even get text books, uniforms and mid-day meals at Govt. schools. After that government gives scholarships to only 20% for the higher schools. We at Aahan Foundaton would like to support the other students who would like to pursue higher studies by providing them guidance and financial support for their extra fees which include school college fees and tution class fees if required by the student which can help them to study further as per their choice. Secondly, as per our survey nearly 75% poor students do not study further after 7th grade as either thier parents cannot afford or the children start working at an very early age as an earning member of the family. All these is due to lack of proper guidance and counseling. Therefore Aahan Foundation aims at providing such kind of positive counseling to those children which can motivate them for further studies for a better life. The third important agenda of the foundation is to teach the underpriviledged students extra curricular activities which are stress buster for them such as dancing, drawing, singing, music, story telling, etc. Like any other normal individuals, such poor children too need some recreational activities so that they can channelize their energies and skills and ward off frustration. One of the biggest challenges faced by the family members is to arrange for leisure activities for such children as they do not have funds. These activities try to provide pure fun and enjoyment to the poor children. They depend on the tastes and abilities of the individual. Such leisure activities include reading, singing, sports, music, dancing. Leisure activities are like stress busters and help children to connect with the finer side of life by forgetting the daily tensions.We would like to know how your institute/organization/companycan help us or contribute in such activities.
