Our History

MySmallHelp (MSH) was set up in 2007 by a group of friends in the UK and Nepal who strongly believe in upholding basic human rights for children.

In March 2011, MySmallHelp Peru was registered as a non-profit organization to pursue the mission of improving living conditions for Peruvians (especially children who have disabilities) and their families by providing access to education, health care, and skills training. Since 2013, MySmallHelp Peru became MiPequeñaAyuda so that the locals would find it easier to remember the name.

Our Vision

Our vision is to create a culture of change and avoid a culture of dependency by challenging the current mindset of poverty and empower people in need to be responsible for their own growth and take control of their own lives.

We also aim to promote a culture of volunteerism and solidarity, not only amongst external volunteers but within the members of the community as a whole.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support children and young adults with disabilities or low economic resources in the Cusco region by providing them access to basic education, health care and skills training as well as developing long-term sustainable plans with them to improve their chances to having a brighter future.

We work together across different fields with the some of our beneficiaries’ families together with staff, external volunteers, educational and public institutions as well as with people in the local community to develop plans and projects to help achieve our goals.

Our Projects

1. Integral Support Program: We support 27 beneficiaries and their families in different areas (legal, health, educational, social, etc.) based on individualized development plans.
2. Community Development Projects: We help improve the quality of life for our beneficiary families and communities by building or improving existing infrastructures, and facilitating training workshops.
3. Educational Projects in Community Schools: We host English classes as well as provide volunteer support in community and special needs public schools.
4. Health and Social Aid Campaigns: We organize health campaigns with health care professionals and aid campaigns in communities; as well as collaborate with public and private institutions in organizing this type of campaigns.

Daily Activities

• Provide direct care and support for children and young adults in their homes, schools, or in the MySmallHelp house. The beneficiaries may have specific physical, social, emotional, educational, mental health and/or other needs;
• Offer a variety of classes, such as: basic therapy exercises, basic communication exercises, social skills, art, help with homework, and academic support in general.
• Participate and support children in educational projects in schools, such as improving reading skills, English classes, and helping out in volunteer activities in community and special education schools.
• Participate in community development projects in communities nearby.
• Create and develop instructional manuals or educational tools, as well as provide basic training for our beneficiaries’ parents and/or other volunteers, according to the skills offered by each volunteer.
• Help in administrative tasks, such as: organizing paperwork, developing communication materials, preparing reports, logistical tasks, and other tasks that may arise.
• Occasionally support in organizing events that may occur during evenings or weekends, depending on a project’s requirements.
