About Us

On average, children in foster care move between placements 7 different times in only 2 years. This chronic instability, compounded by abuse and unhealed trauma, leads to bleak outcomes for an estimated 3,000 children in Houston's foster care system: 50% of kids who age out of care won't graduate high school, and 97% won't graduate college; 50% of the nation's homeless population has spent time in foster care; 2/3 of child sex trafficking victims have a history in the child welfare system; teenage girls in foster care in Texas are 5x more likely to get pregnant before age 19.

Houston Angels is the new Houston chapter of the national nonprofit organization, National Angels, which was created to support the foster care community. Our organization's trauma-informed programs were created to heal and empower children by increasing their stability, surrounding them with healthy relationships and wrapping them in community. Our volunteers are everyday people who are matched with foster families and youth based on zip code and compatibility. We believe that the power of love and community can make a lasting difference for children in foster care.
